S&A Fee Funded Programs
Advising
Employing a part-time adviser with S & A funds supplements services during peak demand and facilitates serving students in a timely manner. In addition supplemental advising services provide advising coverage while full time advisers develop and update advising resources and participate in professional development opportunities. The demand for advising services, especially during registration periods, exceeds what the Advising Center’s full time advisers are able to provide.
Art Group
The Art Group is a volunteer student organization that provides support to the NSCC Art Gallery by funding the Art Gallery coordinator and assistant coordinator. In addition, they help with the selection of exhibits and installation of shows at the gallery and also act as the social organizers of the art students on campus. The Art Group’s functions include conducting workshops, organizing guest speakers, providing art students with educational exposure to other artworks through gallery and museum visits, and supporting NSCC art students.
Arts & Lectures Program
A committee of staff and students designs and provides diverse programming for NSCC students, faculty, and staff. This committee starts planning in the spring for the following year. Faculty, staff and students who would like to bring a speaker, entertainer or program to campus are encouraged to present a proposal to the Arts & Lecture committee for their consideration.
Business Tutoring
The Business Tutoring program provides quality tutoring and lab assistance for students in the business program.
Child Care Center
The ASB Child Care Center provides a safe, supportive welcoming and diverse environment for the children of the students at North Seattle Community College in a manner that fosters student access, retention and success.
Literary Guild
This program provides students the opportunity to learn about publishing creative literary and artistic work. Students are invited to submit work to the program’s magazine, Licton Springs Review and to serve as production staff. Students are given a chance to publish for the first time and to learn how to produce a literary magazine. LSR has received numerous awards in years past for excellence in student publication and production.
Loft Writing Center Plus
The Loft Writing Center Plus provides tutoring services in English and world language skills to all enrolled NSCC students. Visitors include students in ESL (English as a Second Language), NSIE (North Seattle Institute of English), college preparatory English, English composition and literature, students in other academic and technical classes, as well as students composing personal statements for university admission, financial aid, and scholarships.
Math Learning Center
The Math Learning Center helps NSCC students with their studies in math, physics, chemistry, biology, and computer science. The program also enables tutors to deepen their understanding of math and science fundamentals and to enhance their communication and interpersonal skills.
Phi Theta Kappa
Phi Theta Kappa is the international honor society for two-year college students. All part-time or full-time students, academic and vocational, are eligible for membership. Eligibility requires completion of a minimum of twelve hours of college level course work with a 3.5 grade point average. Members can choose to become involved in service, scholarship, fellowship, and leadership activities but active participation in the NSCC campus chapter, Alpha Epsilon Omega at NSCC is optional. Membership also provides access to transfer scholarships, created especially for Phi Theta Kappa members at many colleges and universities across the United States.
Stage One
Stage One supports and enhances the Theater department by providing performance and technical theater experience for its members and others who may be interested. Stage One’s primary mission is to produce high quality, low cost theatrical events for the students, faculty and staff of NSCC, and the surrounding community.
Student Administrative Council
The Student Administrative Council, North’s official student government, identifies and represents the interest of the student body to the college administration. Members work collaboratively with campus staff to provide programs and services that enhance and support student’s academic success. Members receive training and mentoring designed to strengthen their leadership skills and to provide them with a foundation for success.
Student Clubs
Clubs provide students with opportunities to develop leadership skills and to cultivate personal and intellectual growth. Participation provides practical experience in planning, organizing and working in teams. Stop by the Student Administrative Council office (behind the espresso area) to get information about starting or joining a club.
Student Leadership & Multicultural Programs
This program provides opportunities for students to develop leadership skills, foster intellectual and personal growth, and network and grow friendships through participating in co-curricular and leisure activities in a welcoming, supportive environment that values and celebrates diversity. The program collaborates with students, instructors, staff and administrators to design student-centered programs that complement learning, build leadership skills, shape campus policies and procedures, promote student participation, instill personal confidence and encourage goal setting and values clarifications to develop responsible citizens for a multicultural and global society.

Student Media Production Center
The Student Media Production center (located in the Library as part of the NSCC Media Center) provides the following services to students; video editing suite, PowerPoint production area with scanner & digital camera available, collaboration center for students to work on group projects and record their progress/changes digitally, built-in video camera to practice presentations for personal feedback, and an interactive video conferencing system (ITV) which is linked to the K-20 network as well as the Internet 2.
Wellness Center
The Wellness Center is open to all NSCC students and serves a diverse population by fostering a positive environment where physical fitness and healthy lifestyles become lifelong skills and habits through the activities that it provides.
Women’s Center
The Women’s Center is an inclusive campus service created to support and encourage women in their academic and personal growth. We empower female students to achieve their full potential by offering personalized support, social service referrals, educational programming and other resources to minimize barriers and support success. The Women’s Center is also open to male students.
