- Student fees: $134,122.00
- S&A
- Total Funding $159,551.50
2. What are the major funding categories and expenses for your program? Of the total budget, this much is spent on:
- Salaries $89,997.00 56.4%
- Equipment $7,300.00 4.6%

- Difference ($56,824.50) 35.6%
3. How do you get feedback from, students, peers and yourself to assess
your program?
- Surveys
- Evaluations
- Open Door policy
- Suggestion boxes
4. What methods do you use to assess your program and how do you use
assessment to continuously improve or to address changing needs of the
students you serve?
(Same as #3?)
5. What major goals or direction do you have for your program?
- Establish an equipment replacement plan to maintain the safety and security of the weight room equipment.
- Increase rental revenue
- Card Swipe System
6. What would you prioritize if faced with limited funds?
- Since our largest funding category is in salaries, we would have to look at cutting some staff, which means we would either have to cut operational hours or cut drop-in fitness classes.
7. What would you tell all students about your program to get them
involved?
- I would tell all students that their voice is important and at North, their voice will be heard. Secondly, I would tell all students that their health is vital and the Wellness Center is available for all students to help them meet their goals-big and small.
8. How do you collaborate with campus departments, programs and people?
- I make sure that the Wellness Center has a presence at as many campus functions as possible (i.e. Back to School BBQ, SpringFest, Greeters Tables, Enrollment Fairs, Collaboration Day, Art & Lectures series, etc.)
- Work closely with the Physical Education and Continuing Education departments to schedule classes in the Wellness Center.
- Collaborate with all campus departments & student clubs for requests to use various rooms in the Wellness Center for various campus events/functions/clubs
- Coordinate events with the Business Enterprise office to ensure rentals run smoothly
9. How does your program impact student success and retention?
- The Wellness Center offers students with similar interests a place to gather on campus, which builds a sense of community and gives students the feeling that they belong.
- Support student-athletes in their academic success by tracking each of them throughout the quarter- working closely with coaches and faculty to ensure satisfactory progress toward their educational goals
- Hire and support a pool of work-study students for front desk duties
- Give all students a place to release daily pressures from their studies by having an area that they can go to work out on campus, which makes it convenient and fun.
10. How do you accommodate students with different needs such as:
students with disabilities, students from different ethnic, cultural, and
financial backgrounds and veterans? Please provide examples.
At the Wellness Center, the setting is in a campus climate that promotes an inclusive, supportive environment for a diverse population seeking the common goals of health and wellness. In alignment with the mission of our institution, we “embrace diverse cultures, ideas, perspectives and people” in an effort to help everyone, regardless of ethnicity, national origin, religion, age, gender or ability, to achieve their goals. All members of the Wellness Center staff will continue to be encouraged to attend the various lectures and workshops that are held on campus in an effort to broaden their knowledge and enhance their awareness regarding all of the issues that surround the idea of diversity.
11. Besides funding how could student leadership help your program
succeed?
- The Wellness Center could really use some help in getting its drop-in fitness classes and basketball programs marketed to the students. It seems that as much as we do on our own with bulletin boards, emails, flyers, etc., it just doesn’t seem to get the word out enough to ALL students.
12. How does your program address sustainability?
- Recycle, recycle, recycle: paper, ink cartridges, bottles—anything we can
- Building was “remodeled” 3 years ago, at which time we received upgraded lighting in an effort to conserve energy costs
- New project is being proposed by the Sustainability Coordinator to have a few self-powered exercise machines placed in the weight room. More info to come.
