Student Fee General Information

Students see a general category of fees on their tuition receipts, this page is dedicated to explaining those fees.

There are three kinds of fees that students pay, fees that are included with tuition, additional fees which are not and optional fees which are specific to certain programs and classes.

Included In Tuition

Services and Activities Fee

The Services and Activities fee is a $8 per credit fee which students pay to fund programs and services.

Fees Paid with Tuition

Universal Technology Fee

The Universal Technology Fee is a $3 per credit fee (a maximum of $30/quarter) for technology related hardware, software, and service programs which promote higher quality learning and a better college experience at North.

Wellness Center Access Fee

Students pay a $1 per-credit Wellness Center access fee for the first 10 credits. Students enrolled exclusively in special-programs classes such as Continuing Education, Running Start, and ESL are not required to pay the access fee, but do not have access to the Wellness Center Facilities unless paying the optional Special Programs Access Fee.

Transportation Management Plan and Commute Trip Reduction Fee

This $10 a quarter fee is the result the Transportation Management Program and Commute Trip Reduction laws.  Students enrolled in 10 or more credits (or credit-equivalents) must pay this quarterly transportation fee.

Course Specific Fees

Computer Lab Fee

A quarterly lab fee of $40 is charged at the time of registration for every student enrolling in one or more computer-related classes. The fee is only charged once regardless of the number of computer classes in which the student is enrolled, and only for classes that require use of a computer lab or campus servers. Exceptions: Continuing Education classes that incorporate fees into tuition.

Lab Fee

Any class which requires the use of a lab charges a lab fee of $40.  If a student is enrolled in two classes with a lab that student will pay two lab fees. Each year the fee rate is adjusted by the Seattle Community College District.  Covers costs associated with maintenance of lab equipment and supplies.

Optional Fees

The many optional fees include everything from parking passes to e-books, for a complete list refer to North’s Fee Site.
