Mission
We develop students’ confidence and leadership skills to thrive in a multicultural and global society.
What We Do
We provide opportunities for students to develop leadership skills, cultivate intellectual and personal growth, network and grow friendships through participating in co-curricular and leisure activities in a welcoming, supportive environment that values and celebrates diversity. We collaborate with instruction, staff, administration and students to design student centered programs that complement academic learning, build leadership skills, shape campus policies and procedures, promote student participation in all levels of college governance, instill personal confidence, and encourage goal setting and values clarification with the aim to develop responsible citizens for a multicultural and global society.
How We Achieve What We Do
- Developing, implementing, supporting and promoting activities that enrich social, cultural, and intellectual growth
- Arts and Lecture Series (i.e. National Coming Out Day Event, Dia de Los Muertos, Living Voices, Total Gospel Choir, Mariachi Band)
- Quarterly: BBQ and Activity Fairs, Multicultural Potlucks, Student Leadership Awards Banquets
- Annual: Health & Wellness Week, Multicultural Winter Festival, Spring Festival
- Co-sponsor activities with Diversity Advisory Committee, Days of Learning, Scholarship of Teaching and Learning initiatives, workshops and conferences.
- Planning, facilitating, and promoting participation in college wide events, activities, and governance
- Days of Learning, Martin Luther King Week, Faculty retreat
- Passport Fundraising Event, Resource Fairs, Scholarship Fairs
- Facilitating student committee placements, focus groups, surveys and speak outs
- Overseeing the process and implementation of the annual Service and Activities Fees (S&A) budget of approximately $700,000 that supports student success through 21 programs
- Student Government, Clubs, Phi Theta Kappa, Polaris Newspaper, Licton Springs Literary Review, Stage One, Wellness Center, Childcare Center, Women’s Center, Tutoring, Arts and Lecture, Art Gallery
How to Find Us
The Student Leadership and Multicultural Programs office is located on the first floor of the College Center building just behind the espresso lounge (CC1446). We have a large open office with room for student leaders involved in the Student Administrative Council, clubs, Phi Theta Kappa and the Arts & Lectures program. The offices for the director and the two Program Coordinators are just off this office. We are adjacent to a small conference room (the “coral” room) and a large conference room (the “green” room) and a work room. Come by any time to check out how you can get involved in student life at North.

Our offices are open M-Th 8a – 5:30p; F 8a-4:30p. In addition, for your convenience we are also available by appointment by calling 206.527.3642.
