Reports

  • Sabina reported that she met with Alan Ward about funding for furniture for the walk through lounges and he said to go ahead and put in a proposal with the college to see if the Ed Fund will replace the lounge furniture.  The cost is around $12,000 at this time. At this time there are no plans from the college to replace the carpet in the lounges.
  • Sabina reported that the Fee Board met this week on an emergency basis to vote on whether or not to fund a trip for four students to attend a conference in Washington DC to present their findings on research they have been doing this quarter.  They were chosen to attend and are the only students attending from a Community College. The SFB passed the request for $2450 with the stipulations that they start a club for Independent Research by the end of spring quarter and do a public presentation on the conference when they return.
  • Michael talked about the forum on the Student Leadership website and said that to keep a forum alive we need to be writing on it continuously and he suggested that each member of SAC should post daily whether it’s just a comment to someone else’s post or an announcement.  All members agreed that they could start doing this.
  • Helen reminded members that:
    • The suggestion box needs to be set up.  Aaron explained that he would do this after the break.
    • Letters need to go out to students about SAC openings for 2010-2011.  Rich has emailed Betsy about getting a list of students and then he will work on the letter to send out.  Each

Member needs to get their job description to Rich.

  • Sustainability Committee voted on Sabina’s printing proposal and approved it.
  • Richard announced that Minoo Damapour from Purchasing at the district is looking for input from students regarding the new vending machine contract.  They were going to meet during finals week but students said that they couldn’t meet at that time.  She cancelled the meeting and will reschedule it at a later time.  Richard will let SAC members know when the next meeting will be held.
  • Aaron reported on PTK that they just held their induction ceremony for the quarter and they attended the Spring regional conference in Vancouver this last weekend.  They are still working on tutoring ESL students on campus.

Manual

  • Students from the Project Management class by with their plan for the manuals for SAC jobs.  This provides a way for SAC members to get their manuals finished in a timely manner.  They have broken it down so that if you follow their weekly plan, your manual should be done by the end of May.  This was produced by the Table of Contents lists that the SAC members provided.  They also used answers from the questionnaires that SAC members filled out to come up with the plan.  They will email a copy of the plan to SAC members.  At this point, the Project Management students are done with this project and it is up to SAC members to follow through.
