Summary

Furniture

Sabina would give furniture- purchase related documents to Monty by Monday. Aaron will help preparing these documents tomorrow.

Campus map

Richard met with Monty. They decided to model Edmonds community college’s campus map and make our campus map accessible on various bulletin board on campus. Monty modified parts of the current map, enlarge the campus portion and cut the south parking lot portion. Some items are suggested to be added into the map, such as Meditation room, Work source, lock shop, green room, coral room, testing center.

Richard would make sure Janet, Jeffrey and Kevin will obtain a copy of the map when it’s redrafted for future reference.

 Job fair

Someone came to Sabina and asked her to give input for a job fair. This person is researching on what students would like to see in a job fair.

 Safra Act

Richard recently received an email from Chase Cooper, the field organizer of the Washington Public Interest Research Group and he had forwarded the email to all SAC leaders. Chase asks for advocacy for the Student Aid and Fiscal Responsibility Act of 2009. SAC leaders decided to put this topic into the public meeting.

Healthy vending machines on campus

SAC leaders decided to support the idea of healthy vending machines on campus. Richard would write an email to the student leaders of Seattle Central Community College and state our position. Although SAC leaders support this idea, we do think students should have options to choose what they want to drink.

Janet got a call from someone who said that they are the only company that is selling healthy vending machine. She referred this person to the student leaders of Seattle Central Community College.

 IT Advisory Committee

Cindy corrected the misunderstanding of IT Advisory Committee from last meeting. IT Advisory Committee is a new formed committee. This is the reason Lori is looking for 2 students to serve in this committee. Lori suggested one student be chosen from SAC and one from Fee board. Their meeting will be one hour each month. Cindy would need to find out their meeting time and give feedback to her.

Drinking fountain update

Aaron reported that the equipments for drinking fountain will arrive in Feb. and scheduled to be put up in March.

Student comments on lectures

Sabina reported that a student complained that there was not a place to give comments on lectures. The student complained that the lecture from Eric Liu was promoting his books.  Sabina suggested we have a comment box or a signup sheet for appointment with the advocacy coordinator. Janet said we might consider taking down the comment boxes in the campus and put them somewhere in our office.

SAC website on the school website’s front page

Richard would contact Marci Myer and ask her help to urge the process of putting a link of SAC’s website to the school’s website.
