SAC Director resigns, new Director announced

By Richard Butzon | December 18, 2009

The Student Administrative Council (SAC) would like to announce the appointment of Richard Mellroth as our new Director.  Richard will assume the duties of the outgoing SAC Director, Alexis Baranov.  Alexis announced her resignation in an all-campus email 12/9/09.

Here is a copy of the statement from Alexis:

Dear NSCC Students,

For personal reasons, I have decided to resign from my position as director of the student administrative council. My time here has been a great learning experience which I value very much. I am proud of my team here and have complete confidence that they will continue their great work after I leave.  Please know that I appreciate all of the support you have given me and the SAC and I hope you all have a happy holiday!

Sincerely,

Alexis Baranov

The new SAC Director, Richard Mellroth, is a current member of the SAC and served as Cabinet Coordinator this past Fall Quarter.  The position of Cabinet Coordinator will be filled by Xinzi (Cindy) Gong, another SAC member who had served as the Research & Policy Coordinator.

The position of Research & Policy Coordinator will remain vacant, though the SAC may begin a search to fill the position later this academic year.  Should the Research & Policy Coordinator position be filled, the new SAC officer would be expected to serve throughout the next academic year, 2010-2011.  The SAC typically has one or two members return for a second year, which eases the transition between incoming and outgoing student leaders.
