Student Fee Board
The purpose of the Student Fee Board is to allocate the fees that students pay as part of, and in addition to, tuition. These fees include the Service and Activity Fee, Universal Technology Fee, and Student General/Enhancement Funds. The Student Fee Board distributes more than one million dollars annually.
Those who are appointed to the Student Fee Board must commit to one year of service – fall, winter, and spring quarters. Members will be responsible, and held accountable, for learning about the programs, services, equipment and ways in which student fees are used to support student success. Members will evaluate how fees are being utilized and, along with campus employees, will work to ensure fees are used efficiently for their intended purpose. As necessary, members will conduct research on student needs and satisfaction in order to formulate recommendations for program improvement, closure or new program creation.
Members will be expected to exhibit high standards of professionalism, and to this end, will be given appropriate training, resources, and support to carry out responsibilities. During certain allocation cycles, campus employees will join the committee to give support and guidance as well as provide a representative vote.
Preferred qualifications: Students must commit to serving through the end of spring quarter 2009. Students will be expected to spend some time outside of the meetings learning about various programs and resources that are funded by student fees. Students will be expected to engage critical thinking in evaluating requests and making allocation decisions.
